Mini Camps!
Claim your spot on SIgnUp Genius (it’s a little low-tech for now, since this is a fluid situation and we were not expecting to throw this together so quickly!). If there are not 6 or more riders signed up for a day, we will probably NOT have a mini-camp that day, so please make sure you visit this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b044caba629abfb6-cltmtb
Then, pay for your rider’s session(s) here. $35 per session or $150 for 5 (save $25!)
Healthy, Fit, & Happy
It is our understanding that in addition to the basic hygiene practices and social distancing - one of the most important things we can all do to stay healthy is to be fit, active, and lead a healthy lifestyle. So, my main goal is to keep doing exactly what I do as often as possible to stay healthy, fit, and happy - ride my mountain bike in the woods!
Outdoors / Open Air
All of our activities and interaction occur outdoors, in open spaces with access to plenty of fresh air. So, that is exactly where we will continue to meet and ride together - outdoors, in the woods, breathing fresh air and exercising.
Social Distancing
It's a common practice at all CLT MTB rides, practices, and camps that we always:
Follow at a safe distance. This means, when riding on the trail we ALWAYS leave at least one bike-length between each of us, and increase that distance as speed increases. "SPREAD OUT!... GIVE EACH OTHER ROOM!" is something I'm heard saying on the trail often.
Keep our hands to ourselves. This means NOT touching other riders.
We also do not touch: the bike, helmet, gear/equipment, lunch, etc of other riders.
SO, we will continue this AND augment these practices. We will maintain at least 1.5 bike length distance (6/+ feet) from each other at all times - not only on the trail. Since we are outdoors, we have plenty of room to spread out and have our own space.
Practice Schedule
Over the past few months we have experienced a couple "rain out" dates where we either were not able to meet at all, or were forced to ride the greenway only. So, I am starting the following practicing schedule for Team CLT MTB to make up for that missed time and to take advantage of the longer days and warmer weather.
Highschool Students will meet Sundays 1pm - 3pm starting immediately
Middle School Students - will meet Sundays 10am - Noon starting immediately
Additional Day Camps/Dates and Spring Break for Middle Schoolers
*While I was writing this, CMS announced a re-scheduled Spring Break, spanning 9 days including a weekend... Thursday, March 19 through Friday, March 27: So, I am adding this into my schedule. We will meet 9am - 4pm every single day of that Spring Break. I hope this helps to alleviate the pressure of this unscheduled, unexpected school closure for all families.
It is my hope that we can also adhere to the following schedule. However, we may add to it if the need arises due to school closing/rescheduling. We may also be forced to cancel dates if changes are made to the guidelines regarding congregating in groups, etc. As it stands currently, we can totally operate within those guidelines and still get outdoors and ride bikes together.

Safety
At CLT MTB CAMPS, our top priority is the safety of our young riders. We focus a good bit of time each session making sure that our riders stay safe. This includes encouraging them to not take big risks on the trail, keeping both wheels on the ground as much as possible, staying on the trail at all times while riding, and staying on the lookout for hazards that could cause injury. Additionally, CLT MTB riders will be asked to choose a partner they keep track of on the trail, never be alone anywhere, always be within eyesight of a CLT MTB staff member, and we will always be in constant contact with each other on the trail.
Nutrition/Hydration
All CLT MTB MINI CAMP riders re responsible for their own snacks and hydration packs. We will stop once during the afternoon for a small snack on trail, so pack an energy/granola bar, fruit gummies, nuts, or other nutritious snack that riders can keep in their packs.
Rain or Shine
CLT MTB CAMPS are usually held rain or shine BUT considering the current circumstances and requirements for social distancing, we will CANCEL mini-camps due to rain. We will not spend any amount of time in close proximity at a picnic pavilion as we usually do to wait out rainfall. Registration fees will not be refunded due to rain. Your registration fee WILL be transferable to another mini camp session or applied towards a session of Summer Camp.
